1911-1914 HIST: The Purdin Book pg 117: "Between 1911 and 1914, William Smith operated the saw and grist mill at Purdin, not only sawing logs, but grinding flour, meal and chop from grain. The family lived for a period of time in the house just north of the mill. It was here in 1913 that his granddaughter, Dorothy (Thorne) Turner was born.
William's daughters, Lola, Sopha and Maude were operators in the telephone exchange..."
