Headstones | Armstrong, Aaron kcswebman Aaron Armstrong Tombstone: I grew up less than a mile from this cemetery which is located on a small hilltop on Holston River Road in Knoxville overlooking the Holston River. As a very young child, probably about four or so, I remember attending a funeral there, but don't recall whose it was. The cemetery is often neglected and is now sandwiched between the old Holston River Road on the West and Gov. John Sevier Highway on the East. My grandfather, Robert Aaron Armstrong and his wife Almeda owned much of the property from the old cemetery going north almost to where I-40 now crosses the Holston River. The original farm was divided among Robert's four children: Roy, Robert Edwin ('Ted', my father), Grace (m. William Lusby) and Cleta (m. Boyd Hill). David L. Armstrong, added June 9, 2013 |
