M Ruth Dalrymple 1924-2008 - Ruth Dalrymple passed away May 9 2008. She was born in Portland on Dec. 11, 1924, in a home built by her father, Marcus W. Holling on S. E. Crystal Springs Boulevard. She is preceded in death by her father Marcus; mother, Martha Jane; brothers, Ralph and Marcus Wayne.
Ruth attended Franklin High School, during which time she was nominated for Rose Festival Princess. She met Grant High School student Ross Dalrymple at a Latter Day Saints church dance, and the two were later married on Nov. 29, 1947. They had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2007.
Ruth worked in student records at Portland Community College, where she was in charge of student trascripts and diplomas, and developed many lasting personal friendships. She was accomplished in many handicraft areas and had also taught quilting. She one of the first to teach seamless binding, through PCC.
She is survived by her husband, Ross R. Dalrymple; son, Bruce Dalrymple (and wife, Sandra) of Beaverton; daughter Tanis Young, Bellevue, Wash; granddaughters Talea (husband, Roger, and great grandson, Luke) of Maui, Hawaii; Sarah and Rachel Edmonds of Portland; and grandsons, Jason, Brian and Scott Dalrymple.
Ruth was buried at Willamette National Cemetery on May .15, 2008 in a private family ceremony. Published in The Oregonian on 5/25/2008.
