    Andrew Mahl Sr, age 73, died yesterday [21 May] at his home on Carbon Street after an illness of 3 years.

    Andrew was born in Germany but immigrated when he was 14 years old. He was a veteran of the Civil War. Prior to his illness he was a caretaker at the City Hospital.

    He is survived by: widow Mary, son Andrew C Mahl, daughter Mrs Pauline Jost, daughter Mrs Frank Eichenlaub, daughter Mrs John Alletzhauser, sister Mrs Henry Ballett of New York City, and brother Philip Mahl of Jersey City.
