  The Philadelphia Directory Listings: 1795 - John is living in market home #24 of 72 such homes in the highly desirable "Middle Market" section of High Street. A Peter Hinckel is a few doors away at #30 (The Prospect of Philadelphia, by Edmund Hogan). There are at least four other John Hinckel's. One is a potter at 236 High Street, one is a blacksmith at 341 North Second Street, one is a drayman (delivers beer) at 10 Branch Street, another is a butcher at 7th and Vine Street. 1802 - Adam, John and Peter Hinckel are all listed as victuallers and living on Pleasant Street (Philadelphia Directory, by James Robinson, publisher William W. Woodward). 1803 - Adam, John and Peter Hinckel have moved to Laurence and John and Peter have businesses at 24 and 30 Old Shambles. 1805-1808 - John listed as a victualler or "seller of food or other provision" at 24 Old Shambles and living on Lawrence. 1809 - The "widow of John" is listed as a victualler now living on James Street and the Hinckels are not at 24 and 30 Old Shambles and Peter still lives on Lawrence. Apparently Peter's business was strongly tied to John (Robinson's Directory). 1816 - The "widow of John" is not listed as a victualler and is now living on Pleasant Street, seven blocks northwest of James Street. This is the last directory listing for the "widow of John".
