18311 Uncle Dick was a school teacher-later later a deputy sheriff of Randolph County, W.Va.-then Cashier and later executiveVice-President of Citizens National Bank in Elkins.JHA6/2003. Heltzel, James Phillip "Dick" (I1529)

18312 Uncle Luther moved to Detroit as a young adult. He worked for Hudson Motor Co. After World War II he operated a service station in Detroit. Later, he bought a cottage on Big Wolf Lake, near Lewiston, Michigan and lived there until his death. He and Aunt Pauline visited us in Tucson, Arizona in the early 60's-where I was practicing dentistry. I was moaning about Social Security-he told me to look on the bright side-they were enjoying that Social Security money that I was paying in!!! I was trying to interest him in my church-he told me he would just keep his membership in the Round Church--I asked "Which was that"? He replied-The one where the devil can't corner you!! To my knowledge- he hasn't been cornered yet!! JHA 3/2001

A Tribute to Uncle Luke at his death-------
Luther left home at the age of 16. His first job was a 'horse tender' in a logging camp. The horses were much more valuable than the men in the camps. After leaving there he traveled out to Kansas and worked in the wheat fields.
He settled in Detroit in the early 20's and here he lived, worked, and raised his family until he retired and moved to Lewisston, Michigan, in 1944. Luther owned and operated a Service Station most of the time that he llived in Detroit. He dsell out' and work in the defense plant during World War II.
After moving to Lewiston he worked some as a carpenter. He was an excellent craftsman. He did a lot of remodeling of homes all of his life. Dennis can remember moving quite often when they lived in Detroit, this being part of their incom

Luther had the ability to make use of everything and never threw anything away. His motto probably was" a penny saved is a penny earned".
Luther stayed close in heart to his kin folks. Every summer when the boys were at home they made the trip by car back to Virginia. There were no expressways and a lot of dirt roads, but, they would leave early in the morning from Detroi
k in the valley where he grew up to sleep that night. He brought his boys up to be close to their kin-folks. Luther and Pauliine travelled some in their later years, to California, Florida, and always back to Virginia.
Luther was a strong man. He loved to eat, and he was lucky to have Pauline, who was an excellent cook , for a wife.
His kidneys were his downfall!! They were injured in 1967 before his prostrate operation. He had very little illlness in his life and believed in 'doctoring' himself.
Luther died at a young age of 70. He went to the hospital a strong healthy man and died one week later of kidney failure. He loved nature and his humble way of living kept him close to it.

To my Father-in-Law with love, Dorothy King Armstrong From the files of Janice L. (Armstrong) Nicholas

18313 Uncle Nick was from Bulgaria-he spelled his name Todoroff on his marriage license to Aunt Phoebe-they apparently later changed it to Toderoff because of phonetics. JHA 8/22/2000. One source shows their marriage at Washington, D.C. He apparently came to the U.S. at age 16. During my youth, he and Aunt Phoebe lived in Bridgewarer, Va., where he was the town cop. I have fond recollections of Uncle Nick. The highlight of my year was to get to spend a week or two with them every summer. JHA 3/2001 Toderoff, Nicholas Dexter (I1517)

18349 Violet Mae Muehlen Draper, 78, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011 following a stroke.

She was born March 14, 1932, in Logan, Utah, the daughter of Harry and Rebecca Muehlen. She married Carroll (Bud) Draper on June 21, 1949 in the Logan Temple.

She was active in the LDS Church and loved being a visiting teacher, where she served faithfully and willingly for over 50 years. She served in ward and stake primaries and in the Mutual.

Mom was a friend to one and all. She loved people and people loved her. She was known as Mrs. Santy Clause, (because of her beautiful snow white hair), to many at the Clearfield Aquatic Center where she enjoyed attending water aerobics classes. Our thanks, as a family, to her friends and the staff there who helped and loved her.

To Mom love was spelled "FAMILY." She loved and served her parents; her siblings were her best friends; her children were the greatest; and she could never get enough of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Bud, and children; Jeff (Carol) Draper, Syracuse; Kathy (Larry) Smith, Clearfield; Danny (Sue) Draper, Taylor; Mike (Debbie) Draper, Slaterville; David (Carole) Draper, Clearfield. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Park West Ward, 1715 W. 1600 No., Layton. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Logan City Cemetery.
