14335 | Hendrick Corssen dropped the patronymic "Corssen" & used the additional designative "Vroom" as their family name & are so known today.. He hailed from the Wallabout and on the assessment rolls of Brooklyn of 1683 and 1693. Hendrick & his family moved from Brooklyn to the Raritan River district of New Jersey, in the vicinity of New Brunswick, the same community where some of the descendants of Jan Corszen & Metje Cray first ancestors of the Sussex Co., New Jersey, group resided. The latter used the name "Corssen" as a family name & this circumstance may have influenced Hendrick Corssens children to use the name "Vroom". Apparently his grandfather was Peter Coursen Vroom which may have been a good reason he went by Vroom. | Vroom, Hendrick Corsen (I528)

14339 | Her abt b. & birthplace are found in (1) & (3) The children were all born on Staten Island as listed in (1) & Their names were all given in their fathers will (4). Her mg. to Pieter Pieterse Haughwout on 4 Nov 1683 is found in (3). She died on Staten Island presumbly, although there exists no record of either her death or burial. The registers of the First Dutch Reformed Church on Staten Island, located at Port Richmond, begin in 1696; although there were religious services there prior to that date, the records of baptisms there do not exist prior to 1696. We have therefor a period of time extending from 1683, the year of the mg. of Pieter Pieterse Haughwout , until 1696---13 years---during which time we have no records of the bap. of any of his children; nor their deaths, nor marriages. Hence we find no record of the bap. of his children elsewhere, we cannot determine exactly the order of his childrens births but must approximate thereto by reasonable deduction. The childrens names were all given in their father Pieter Pieterse will (4) | Egbert, Dirckje (I404)
