13651 DIED.

Richard W. Fortner was born in Vermillio county, Ind., Aug. 4th, 1832, departed this life April 13, 1902, aged 69 years 8 months and 9 days. He moved from Indiana to Illinois. He was married to Mary Rose Dec 28, 1856. To this union were born eleven children, five sons and six daughters. Eight of whom were living who mourn their loss. Two daughters and one son preceded their father to the other land. The deceased came to Kansas in 1877 and settled in Wilson county where he resided until called away. He had never united with any society but three weeks before his death he professed faith in Christ and to the end trusted in God. The body was laid to rest in the Fredonia cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by H. E. Smith Pastor of the U.B. church.

John Meares - Boston: 26: 7 mo. 1663. I, Jno. Meeres, lying sick - declare this as my last will, if no other after this doe appeare. I make my dear Unkell, James Johnson, executor of this my last will. I give to my wife, Mary, my dwelling house during her life, & if she marry, her next husband to give to her Child she now goes with ye said house & ground, & after both her and her childs decease, then, to my two brothers, or ye survivor of them. Moreovr, I give to my beloved wife, ye bed I now ly on, with all ye furniture thereto belonging, six greene Chairs, a round table, and two paire of sheets, besids them I had with her, with a Long table in the house. To my father Meares, my best suit and Cloak, and four Cord of wood, with my Weding hat. To my dear mother Mears, my Chest of drawers, two paire of sheets, and bed ticking. I wrote to the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. I was sent here by t he library in Pierce county. UWRF checked the newspaper for Pierce Count y Herald and found no obit. They also checked the Wisconsin State death i ndex (1959-1997) and he was not there with the death date we have. I the n checked the Wisconsin Death Index with the spelling, FISHER, instead o f Fischer and he was listed as Albert W Fisher, died age 71 in Pepin Coun ty, Wisconsin, 17 oct 1960.

Dr. John M. Montgomery, Jr., was a practicing physician in Yell County.

He moved from Tenn. to Lafayette Co. Mississippi and from there migrated to Arkansas. He was the son of Dr. John M., and Angeline G. (Strickland) Montgomery. (Dr. John, Sr., was also a physician) as well as his son, Dr. Earl M., bur in Yell Co. AR.

He was married to Mattie (Wilkinson) Montgomery, and together, they raised a family of seven children in Yell. He owned land in the community of Pumpkin Center, as well as a large landowner, Dr. Wm. H. McCall.
