Doc# 701 Last will and testament of John Root of Asotin, Asotin Co, washi ngton.Lists his wife Fannie Root and only son Isaac Root. Filed in 1911. 25 Aug 1911 John Root passes away 23 Aughad the Grand Army of the Republi c ceremonies. He was born in Logan Co., Ohio 15 Mar 1837. He served hi s country in the civil war. Married Catherine Steel in 1866. Two boys , one died young, Isaac Root of Harrisburg, ID. He crossed the plains b y wagon in 1882. His first wife died 29 jan 1887. In 1889 he married Mr s. Fannie Hall. He ws Methodist adn member of the Order of the Odd Fello ws. Doc #872 History of Union and Wallowa Counties., page 547-8. this histor y says he has five children.
