Birth Record for Lavinia Cardillo 27 November 1883

Birth Record No. 6
Lavinia Cardillo, foundling

The year one thousand-eight hundred-eighty-three on the twenty-seventh of November at 8:40 a.m. in the Town Hall ----
Before me, Matteo Della Torre, Mayor and Official of the Civil State of the Town of Peschici, appeared Michele Lamangese, aged forty-eight, provisory guardian of the Camposanto, who has presented to me a child of the female sex apparently of the age of twenty-four hours with whom was found five white cotton wraps, a new strip of white cotton fabric, two white, cotton shirts with a similar trim, and two caps for her head of white madamapolla, one of which was white with a ribbon, and one a white, used handkerchief, with yellow and black squares. And he declared that yesterday at 7:10 p.m. on the 26th day of this month at the Church of St. Anthony outside the town at the foundling wheel, because this town does not have a hospice, an unknown man from the town of Vieste brought the baby girl and placed her in the wheel, dressed as described above. The clothing was deposited in the Office of the Civile State and was then given to the wet nurse, along with a copy of this act. I have given the baby girl the surname Cardillo, and the name of Lavinia.
The witnesses, Federico Sarro, aged forty-three, an employee, and Gianpaolo Jacovino, aged thirty-nine, a landowner, both residents of this town, were present for all that is written above.

Having read this act to all the intervening parties, it was therefore signed by all.
