Brother [in-law?] Oliver Crary Esquire co-exec with wife. Sons John Gavit & William Gavit both under 21. Daughter Anna Gavit under 18 and unmarried. Indian girl Sarah. Witn: Thomas West, Sarah Babcock, Oliver Lewis. [see page 425]"

      1767 DEATH: William died before 29 June 1767, LANS Corp, Fr & Ind. War Crown Point, the date his will was proved.

      1767 PROBATE: Film 0930806, Vol 4 Council & Probate 1762-1787, pg 100: "Francis West & Oliver Lewis of Westerly appeard bef town council June 2, 1767 & made oath they saw Wm Gavit deceased sign, seal, publish & declar this instrument to be his last will & Tes. Signed Wm Pendleton, recorded by Joseph Crandall, clerk... Inventory - many items... Anna Gavit, exec & Mr Oliver Crancy exec to will of Wm Gavit late dec'd - June 29, 1767 - appeared before the town councsil of Westerly, made oath that they had presented the dec. est. in order to be appraised as the land directs. Signed Wm Pendleton, President."

      1781 PROBATE: Rhode Island Genealogical Register Vol 14 pg 132 [& film 930806 pg 425]: "GAVIT, William. 23 Apr 1781, pg 425. Division of Estate of William Gavit late of We deceased according to his will. Anna Gavit the late widow of William Gavit is now the wife of Amos Cheesborough [one - tract or lot of land lying in Westerly containing 200 acres & 25 rods with dwe3lling house and barn, beg at S end of stone wall that encloses te barn yard on the E side, then... Oliver Lewis'land W on country road, S on land now in a lane belonging to Deacon Ezekiel Gavit - to the first mentioned bound tog... We also set off assigned to Anna Gavit, dau of dec, now wife of John Prentice Babcck, one tract or lot... 8 acres & half more in life.] Anna Gavit the daughter of William Gavit deceased is now the wife of John Prentin Babcock. [Also set off to John Gavit son and orphan of aforesaid Wm Gavit, 10 acres. Wit: Joseph Noyes, John Lewis & Joseph Crandall] [see RIGR Vol 13, pg 161 for will of William Gavit.]"
