    • NAM:Aeltje Jans, the first dau of Jan Hendricks van Bommel, was four when her mother died & was brought up by her stepmother, Annette Abrahams, with the other children. She was also known as Jans (her father's name); as Aeltje Hendricks (her father's father's name); and as Aeltje Splinters, which was the family name chosen by her stepmother's family (Annatie Abrahams). The Splinters name was fixed in
      use by Abraham who had "married Geertie, a sister of Laurens Wessel". NY Wills Vol II p 240, 241.
      Her birth date listed in N.Y. Dutch Reformed Church rec. of Bap. in the NYG&B rec. Vol. 2, 974.7 B4ne her siblings on pp.149, 171, 185, 199, 212, 224, 262, 291 .
      Her burial is recorded in NYHS yr bk 1899, N.Y.RDC rec. of burials 974.7 C4h p.209
      Aeltje Jans half sister, Lyntie, probably the one bap. 27 Oct 1680, was named "Lyntie Splinters, jong dochter"
      (i.e,young daughter) at the bap. of Aeltje's twins on 5 Nov 1699, when Lyntie would have been 19. Lyntje Splinters married Andries Ten Brock at NYDC, 3 Jul 1701 (p. 586)
