    • On 3 Apr 1695 Nicholaes Backer and Catharina Croeser had a dau. Neeltje bap. at NYDC,
the witnesses were Volckert Hendrixen Bries, who was the second hus. of Neeltje Jans, wife of
Gerret Croesen. The child was being named for Catharine's mother, as was good Dutch practice
and consonant with the naming system.
On 22 Apr 1707 at Staten Island, Nicholas Backer had his dau. Tryntie bap. with" Gerrit
Croesen and his sister Neeltje as the witnesses.(probably Bro. & Sis. to the Mother).Tryntie being named for her Mother. On 20 May 1703 at Staten Island, Henderyck Kroesen had a son Gerret bap. with Jacob Crosse and"Trintje Backers" as witnesses. (Tryntje probably sis. to the father).
On 18 Oct 1715 Gerret Kroesen had a son bap. at Staten Island with Joris Neeftjes and "Cathareyntje Kroesen" as witness's.(Cathareyntje probably a sister to the father) Witness's usually being close relatives.
