"Descendants of John and Abigail Thurlo" Called "Belle".
MG,DTH: "Descendants of John and Abigail Thurlo".
NOTES: Mary Belle was born to David and second wife, a widow, who left him and the baby. He life was spent with a relative (probably Aunt Pink), then a friend (Hiram Tipton near Reger, MO) for nine years. Her father came to bring her back to Duncan, OK in 1888, where he and some of the boys were surviving in
Indian Territory, farming and living in a dugout. There she met and married Clabe Dirickson and had four children before moving to Globe, AZ to help build the Roosevelt Dam. After one more child they left Arizona and went back to Indian Territory. (unsure of where father and Dot are at this time) They settled in the western part of the state for awhile. About 1907 (made a state) they moved by covered wagon to Rogers Co, OK. They acquired some land near Claremore, Rogers Co and sold sandrock for the building of the Will Rogers Memorial fence.
Belle was a hard-working pioneer and always had a kind word to say about anyone. In later years she always had her childen, grandchilren and neighbor's children about her. Stangers could not have guessed which were hers. She loved them all.
