After the death of John of Gaunt's second wife, Constance, they were married (1396/7) and later that same year, their children were legitimized and their marriage was confirmed by Parliament which sat between 22 Jan and 12 Feb 1936/7 and by the Pope in September 1396 and by King Richard II in Feb 1397.
