1807 James Huston Granting Power of Attorney to William Berry
    Henderson County, Kentucky

    8 Oct 1807
James Huston of Henderson County, for good cause and because he is moving, appoints trusty friend William Berry of Hopkins Co., KY to deal on his behalf regarding distribution of the estate of Thomas Coulson, deceased, of Spotsylvania Co., VA and an inheritance left by the said Colson to Ann Huston, formerly Ann Berry, wife of the said James Huston.

Note: This record narrows down the marriage date of James and Nancy Ann to prior to Oct 1807.

Note: The will of Thomas Colson/Coulson was probated on 2 July 1805 in Spotsylvania Co., VA wherein he leaves portions of his vast estate, land holdings and slaves to many people, including a small portion to “the children of Mary Berry.”

The mother of Nancy Ann Berry, wife of James Houston, was Mary Hampton Berry. The Hampton family is mentioned many times in the will of Thomas Coulson.
