MG: Karl Walther GY 1994: Weissdorf parish register 163-6 pg 223b, 1771, #6:
Johann Walther inhabitant of Wulmersreuth for the future, conjugal oldest
son of Johann Walther, inhabitant of Ploesen and Elisabetha Fuchs conjugal
older dau of Adam Fuchs, who was an inhabitant of Wulmersreuth, now stepdau of
Conrad Ritter in Wulmersreuth, both unmarried, were coupled 21 Apr 1771.

LAND: Karl Walther 1995 "Annotation to Staatsarchiv Bamberg K226/311 "The
Royal Government of Bavaria rcded premises of all the people, which were
owners of property, when Bavaria took over the franconian principalities in
early 1811. Title deed had to be shown. Also John Thomas's father went to
court in 1811 and declared his remise and signed the document. This was the
basis for the new taxtion, higher than before."
List of estate for Johann Walther in Wulmersreuth 21 April 1811 "shows Karl
Walther that Johann Walther was the second biggest land owner in Wulmersreuth.
Bought the farm in 1771 from Johann Doehla. Karl appraised estate abt 40 Hektar
= 100 acres. This was very large for Upper Franconia. Bought for $689 US.
Karl Walther 1995: 1/2 Farm #8 in Wulmersreuth, Summary of documents at the
archive in Bamberg: Id of the heirs at-law 20 Jan 1817. Johann died in 1816 w/o
a will. Johann Thomas, his youngest son, was 18 yrs old when his father died
and being underage, had a guradian, Thomas Seifert. The local-judge identified
the heirs at law, because the statutory inheritance had to go into effect:
1. Elisabetha Walther, widow (says 2nd mg with no named children)
Then the children of the first marriage, the deceased Catharina (Karl says the
judge mixed up the names of the wives. Elisabetha was first)
2. 3 grandsons Johann, Nicolaus & Friedrich Wolfrum, children of dec'd dau
Catharina Walther Wolfrum md to Johann Georg Wolfrum in Wulmersreuth.
3. Grandau Catharina Walther, dau of dec'd Johann Walther in Muenchberg.
4. Grandson Johann Roedel, underage, son of dec'd dau Catharina Walther wife
of Roedel in Hallerstein.
5. Son Johann Walther I in Hallerstein
6. Son Johann Walther II in Hallerstein
7. Md dau Margaretha Schreiner in Nonnenwald
8. Son Johann Adam Walther in Weissdorf
9. Son Johann Thomas Walther, underage, in Wulmersreuth
After this document there was a summary of the assets and liabilities, showing
each child receiving cash property, etc except Johann Thomas rec'd nothing,
with a balance of 539fl 49kr. Then a summary of the calculations of the
portions and distributions of the 1/2 farm #8 in Wulmersreuth were listed:
The widow Elisabetha Walther gave up her portion for the benefit of the
children. She contented herself with the removal-funds of 500fl and natural
produce to be given every year till she died. She also took 24 household
utensils, which were specified. The balance of the 539fl 49kr were divided in 8
equal portions. Johann Thomas was to receive the 1/2 farm #8, cattle and grain,
and to pay the expenses of the funeral, his mother, etc. Signs under the
document and annotations Weissdorf 30 Mar 1818: Elisabetha Walther +++ (she was
illiterate), signed by Simon Schreiner, Johann Georg Wolfrum, Johann Walther,
Adam Walther, Johann Roedel, Johannes Walther, Johann Nicolaus Duerr, Thomas
Seifferth, Thomas Walther.
A court order in Muenchberg 25 Feb 1820 cancelled the guardianship of
Thomas Walther in Wulmersreuth. Thomas Walther made the following statement:
"I have rec'd the property of a value of 1522 fl..which was assigned to me by
treaty of partition 30 Mar 1818 by taking possession of the 1/2 farm with
addition and 125 fl assets completely and I have done the payments in cash for
the most part. I have admin my property by myself since this time & now I don't
lay claim neither to my guardian nor to the guard. court. Because of the guard-
ianship I return becoming thanks to my guardian & to the guard. court & I
declare the both free of all claims & I ask them for lay-off of guardianship."
Signed by J Thomas Walther and Thomas Seiffert
