Mr. Thorla was a man of good general information, and by profession a surveyor. 1819 HISTORY: "...He was one of the early Justices of the Peace and served also as Co Surveyor of Morgan Co. Silas and Dennis Gibbs were the first Justices of the Peace in Olive Twp, commissioned 18 Aug 1819. Silas and Robert McKee were among the first settlers in Olive and Noble County. They had a store in Olive, drilled for salt water and made salt to sell.
