There were no Thomas Thorla's of military age, other than the above, and there were none as well who were descendants of Francis Tharlay, son of Richard. It is reasonable to conclude, therefore, that this Thomas Thorla is the one mentioned below in "Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War", a compilation from the Archives, prepared and published by the Sec of the Commonwealth 1907. 1775: "Thomas Thurlo - Newburyport; Private, Lieut John Brickett's troop of horse, which marched April 20, 1775 in response to the alarm of April 19, 1775 to headquarters at Cambridge; service 4 days; reported returned home." 1777: "Thomas Thurlo - Corporal, Capt John Noyes' Co, Col. | 1508 | 1755 BIRTH: Isaac Babcock was born 16 January 1755 1780 MARRIAGE: RI,Washington Co-Westerly: Isaac Babcock married Amey Gavitt 12 November 1780 by Joseph Crandall, Justice of the Peace. 1837 DEPOSITION: CT,New London Co-Groton, 25 August 1837: I, Rebeckah Latham, of Groton in the County of New London and State of Connecticut, aged 77 years, do upon my oath depose and say, that in the year 1780 I resided at my for them house in the town of Westerly, County of Washingtpon and state of Rhode Island. I was then well Gavit of the town of Westerly, which took place sometime in the year 1780, the month I cannot now recall, but I am sure said marriage took place sometime in the year 1780. I well remember that they were married by Joseph Crandall, a Justice of the Peace for the County of Washington and I further depose and say that I well remember that the said Isaac Babcock was in the Service and served in the war of the Revolution as a private soldier for a considerable amount of time after his marriage to the said Amy - Gavitt aforesaid. I further depose and say that the aforesaid Isaac Babcock died in the town of Groton about 26 years ago and that his widow Amy Babcock has remained a widow ever since the decease of her husband. I frther depose and say that the said Isaac Babcock was born oaccording to our family records as Jan 16, 1755. Rebeckah Latham State of Connecticut, County of New London..Groton, August 25th 1837...
