    HISTORY OF JEFF CITY, Ford, New Day Press, JC 1938 [2nd printing?]: "Fred Raithel was born in Cole Co, Mo, in year 1857, being a son of W A. Raithel, who came from Germany in 1844, and died in 1882, at the age of 72. He was the father of six children, all of whom are living, and who were born on a farm four miles southeast of Jeff City. His wife still survives him and resides on the old homestead. Fred Raithel remained at home until he attained his majority and was then married to Miss Catherine Wulfrum, a daugter of Ulrich Wulfrum of Cole Co, formerly of Germany, [who-?] married Miss Catherine Puchta of Cole Co. After his marriage he purchased what was known as the Ott farm, consisting of 350 acres on which is one of the finest brick residences to be seen the river for miles. It stands on an eminence overlooking the river and surrounded by many fine trees and shrubs. Here they have resided since 1883 and since locating they have made many valuable improvements in the way of fences and clearing. At the present time Mr. Raithel bldg bank barn. Both Republicasn, members of Evangelical Lutheran Church. Children: Christian, Edmond and Katie.

Letter from Parish tells of birth of first child, Johann, that he was illegitimate and died. She was then living at #16 Schlegel, Bavaria, Germany.

    In addition, I was able to find the following: On February 11, 1828, Anna Elisabetha Doehla from Wulmersreuth, at that time Schlegel 16, gave birth to the illegitimate child Johann Doehla. Johann Doehla died on February 18, 1828.

    Says surviving widow of Adam Puchta, tenant farmer in Seulbitz. Age 68 yrs
    4 months,9 days,4 1/4 hours,"but according to Parish, the timing is off".
    Husband died 1846. Died at son-in-law's home, J. Voit, a weavermaster, of
    old age after being sick 8 days. Pfarremt Wunderlich burial with choir.
    (meant paid more money or held in higher esteem than normal for burial
    services.
