James Gordon Birth: 1801 Death: Feb. 7, 1868 Find A Grave Memorial# 100777923 James grew up near the Surry and Stokes County line on the old Hollow Road, between Pinnacle and Pilot Mt., N. C. They were farmers. He was also a Justice of the Peace and in 1842, he was on the school board committee. They made their home near the Gladden's Creek located on Volunteer Road in Stokes County, N. C. The Old Gordon Cemetery is located off Volunteer Road on the Owen's farm. It is located on a slight hill with a large tree shading it. Pilot Mtn. and Saurtown Mtn. can be seen in the distance. In 1870, Susan Jackson Gordon was living with her son, Doctor Yancy Gordon and his wife, Alice. She lived with them the remaining part of her life. Jefferson Madison Gordon Birth: 1826 Death: Apr. 10, 1900 Find A Grave Memorial# 66217050 Jefferson Madison Gordon was a descendant of Thomas Gordon, and the son of James Gordon and Susannah Jackson Gordon. Jefferson married Martha Ebert 10 Jan 1851. They owned a large track of land between Pilot Mountain and Pinnacle on the Hollow road.
