1828 Deed of Sale for John Ward

Tazewell County, Virginia, 25 February 1828

John Ward was indebted to James F Pendleton and Thomas Peery $132.75. In consideration of this debt, Ward will sell Pendleton "one Negro boy named Charles between nine and ten years of age." If Ward can pay Pendleton the debt before May 15, then this obligation is void.
