The Marriage of James Bringhurst and Rachel Bittle

""Now these are to certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing their said intentions, this twelfth day of the eighth month in the year of our Lord one thousand, seven hundred and eighty nine, They the said James Bringhurst and Rachel Bettle appeared in a public meeting of the said people held at their meeting house in Pine Street in Philadelphia aforesaid, and the said James Bringhurst taking the said Rachel Bettle by the hand, did in a solemn manner openly declare that he took her the said Rachel Bettle to be his wife promising through the Lord's assistance to be unto her a loving and faithful husband until Death should separate them."
