1758 BIR,1763 IMM, MIL, 1848 DTH,: Email Feb 2001, Lystra MARSHALL: Johann Adam Gensel bn 23 Jul 1758, Froeschen, Rhineland, Germany; dd 14 Mar 1848, Roaring Creek Twp, Columbia Co PA. Weaver and farmer. Came to America on "Chance" in Nov 1763, arriving Philadelphia May 1764. Amer Rev Privaate, PA Volunteers, Baldy's Co, Hiesters Battalian. Belonged to Union Lutheran & Reformed Church.
1763 IMM: Book pg 18: GAENSSEL, Johann Adam. Born at Froeschen, 23.VII.1758 (23 Jul 1758). Son of Johann Valentin and Catharina Gaenssel. Has left for Pennsylvania with his parents 1763 May. Johann Valentin Gaenssel, son of Jacob Gaenssel, from Froeschen, md at Thaleischweiler, 15.II.1758, Maria Catharina, dau of Ludwig Petri, from Krickenbach. Valentin Gaensel arrived on the ship Chance, 1 Nov 1763 (S-H I,685). Adam Gensel, single freeman, was living in Maxatawny Twp., Berks Co 1789; as a weaver, he was in Richmond Twp., Berks Co, 1784 and later (PA-3, XVIII, 384, 670, 790). In 1790 2 men named Adam Gensel were listed, one in Greenwich Twp & the other in Longswamp Twp, both Berks Co (First Census pp 34,36)
