    Moore County, North Carolina

    Captain James Muse was the son of James Muse Sr. of Virginia. James Sr died on Deep River in 1758. James Jr moved to Carthage around 1764. He built his home on McLendon's Creek. He was captured at Moore's Creek but escaped. He refused to take the oath. He died in 1781, leaving a widow, Charity, and large family. He was of English descent.
