      Pauline Willis Pauline V. Willis was born to Augustus and Viola Semon o n 26 May 1923, in East St. Louis, Illinois, and went to be with Our Lor d on December 4, 2010. Her beloved husband, Alvin Joseph (A.J.) Willis pr eceded her in that journey, but she is survived by her loving children, g rand children and great-grand children. Her seven children (and their spo uses) are: Lloyd W. (Somsri) Willis, Joseph A. (Barbara) Willis, Virgini a M. (Mark) Powers, Stephen A. (Piyanud) Willis, Curtis P. (Katie) Willis , Michael W. (Iris) Willis and Lorena A. (Timothy) Fischer. Her fourtee n grandchildren and great-grand children will keep her memory green. A s a young woman, she studied nursing, worked as a volunteer in World Wa r II at a center for soldiers home on leave there in Auburn, New York, an d after the war met and married the love of her life, who was himself a m ember of the U.S. Air Force. From then on, her life revolved around raisi ng her children, caring for her husband, and living a Christian life. Whe n they retired to Clovis, New Mexico, she continued with her life's work , until the death of her husband. Undaunted, she handled all of the uphea val that caused, continued to raise her children still living at home an d started work for Curry County, New Mexico, in the Health Department unt il her retirement in 1987. After her retirement and the departure of he r last child into the world, she became more active in the First Baptis t Church in Clovis, assisting in the various activities of her church, br inging the wisdom and especially the patience she had learned in raisin g her own seven children to that task. She traveled extensively, visitin g Okinawa several times and living there for a while, where her younges t daughter and her husband were stationed with the Navy; Britain and Germ any, with trips to other parts of Europe, where two of her sons were stat ioned in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army; and several times she too k vacations to Thailand, the home country of two of her daughters-in-law , accompanying them to see that Oriental nation as an insider, as well a s attending her son's wedding there. She brought films and videos as wel l as snap shots of her travels back to her friends and fellows at the Fir st Baptist, sharing her pleasure in her trips with them in stories abou t what she did and saw in all those places. She visited her children freq uently, bringing joy and happiness to them and to her grandchildren, show ering them with love and affection and the occasional meaningful and thou ghtful gift. At a later time, she decided to sell her home in Clovis an d went to live with her children, still traveling and visiting new place s and spending time with her family, all around the country. She decide d to give up driving at the age of 83 and gradually slowed the pace of he r other activities. She was living with her daughter Virginia when the Lo rd called her home. She was loved by all her family and will be deeply mi ssed, but she is at peace, within sight of God's Throne and is re-unite d with her beloved husband, whom she missed so much. The family will rece ive friends and family Friday night, Dec 10, 6-8pm at the Thomas Funera l Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday, Dec. 11, at 10:00 am at the Fi rst Baptist Church, Burial will be in Lawnhaven Cemetery at 3:00 pm in Cl ovis, New Mexico, services are under the direction of Thomas Funeral Home .
