      1984 DEATH: MO,Sullivan Co-N Browning: Marcus Oliver Alspach died suddenly his home on the morning of March 21k 1984 at the age of 95yrs 1mo and 3days.

      He was married in Browning to Elsie Pearl Kennedy on Dec 24 1911. To this
      union were born Raymond Marcus Alspach, Sr, who preceded him in death on Feb
      3 1984, and Dorothy Lucille Alspach Brandel of Vienna, VA.
      He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, his parents, his brother and
      four sisters.
      He leaves to mourn his passing: his daughter Dorothy A Brandel, who with
      her husband Col RE Brandel had been with him during the past 6 wks; his sister
      Meda Alspach Freeland and her husband Glenn Freeland of Browning; his sister
      Opal Alspach Keithley of Tulare, CA; his grandson Raymond M Alspach Jr and his
      wife Phyllis of Browning; four great grandchildren and their families, which
      include 5 great great granchildren-Marlin Alspach, his wife Marcia and daughter
      Misty; Dean Alspach, his wife Terry and daus Amanda and Nickie; Kathy Alspach
      Tornow, her husband Michael and sons Wesley and Bradly; Kerri Alspach Epperly
      and her husband Chris; other relatives and a host of friends.
      A self-made man, Mark led an active business life until the time of his
      death. He attended the Browning HS and Kirksville St Tchrs Coll, then to
      follow a 10 yr teaching career with summertime pursuit as a carpenter building
      homes in Browning...a superb athlete, excelling in speed & figure skating, bxg
      horsemanship. He changed his profession to metal fabrication, service station
      1930s, feed & seed grains, farm & hunting supplies and followed farming.
      Browning town Marshall, Linn Co Deputy Sheriff over 20 yrs (reputation as
      a strict law and order man) Mbr of Modern Woodmen of Amer. Second oldest mbr of
      First Baptist Church of Browning, serving as Superintendant of Church for yrs.
      The community has lost a pillar of strength! Mark's life was an example of
      professional skills, honor and service, which were during his lifetime emulated
      and deeply respected by his family friends and bus associates.
      A combined funeral service for Mark O and his loving wife Elsie was held
      at 2 pm Sunday Mar 25 1984 at the Browning 1st Baptist Ch. Casketbearers: Dr
      Max Freeland, James Calhoun, Ray Nickell, Keath Crooks, David Long, Ken
      Jennings.
      Interment in White Oak Cem under direction of Schoene-Wright Fun Home.

      Marcus Oliver Alspach, the eldest child of Frederick Jacob and Ida May Brumbaugh, was born on a family famr 2 miles north of Browning on 18 Feb 1889. He spent his life in Sullivan and Linn Counties. He passed away suddenly in
      his home on the morning of Mar 21 1984 at the age of 95 yrs 1 mo and 3 dys.
