      The William Robins married to Mary Barnes was a pork butcher. He and his wife baptized their daughter, Emma, in 1824 in a Presbyterian Church. In the 1841 census, William and his wife and daughter were living on George St. Emma died soon after and was buried in an Independent Chapel. William died in 1848. His wife, Mary Barnes, continued to be a pork butcher for decades. In the 1851 census, she is living with her sister, Sarah Barnes. In the 1861 and 1871 censuses, Mary was a retired pork butcher and living in various residences. According to all censuses, this Mary was born about 1801 in Wisborough Green, Sussex. Emma's baptism states that Mary was the daughter of George and Jane Barnes.

      William Way Robbins married a Mary before 1827. They baptized their son, Ralph, in 1827 in the Church of England. This William was a hostler. In the 1841 census, William was already deceased. His wife and son were living on Marine Parade. In the 1861 census Mary was a nurse and living with her son, Ralph, and his family. In the 1871 census, Mary was a house keeper and her granddaughter was living with her. According to all censuses, this Mary was born about 1801 in Steyning, Sussex. This Mary was not the daughter of George and Jane Barnes.
