  • Notes
    • My great uncle Will met Cora Alice Todd At a church function and they were later married by Rev. A.A. Miller of Sangersville, Virginia. My dad, Dice, loved his uncle Will and gave me one of his pet sayings which I have found very applicable in my life "I loves those comers and goers, but dad gum those comers and stayers"!! JHA 2001.

NOTE: My father, Norman Armstrong, stayed with Uncle Will and Aunt Cora a short time and went to school. Frances, (Will and Cora's granddaughter) was also living there at that time. From the stories he told, Daddy and Joe enjoyed teasin. Daddy told me the reason he had been sent to Virginia to finish that school year was because he had been expelled from school in West Virginia for fighting. It seems the other boy was older and bigger and kept picking on Daddy. He took it as long as he could and then one day whipped the tar out of him. It just so happened the bully was the son of the superintendent of schools.

NOTE: The personal sketches in the following report were copied from the notes used by Joe Armstrong when he gave a report on the William H. branch of the Eli Armstrong Family at the reunion in 1986. Joe sent me a complete update on this family in 1991. ***********
