Neva's father, Joe Nickell, died 1961, mother, Gertrude Smith, died 1930. "Always kept in touch with Uncle Marc and Aunt Lin. Neva's sister Fern Woodward, in Browning was publisher of the Browning Leader-Record. Neva's brother Roy died in 1960 (63). Aunt Lou in Missouri alive when letter written (84). (1878) Aunt Ora a sister to Olive Pearson. John Michael was single and went to Portland with Ted, had bad accident and about died.

They did not have any children and later moved to Cambridge Nebraska and Blackfoot Idaho. In later life, Daniel Bales lost his eyesight, due to accidents. He and Matilda were of the Mennonite Faith. She died 1902. Son, Levi Beals, a widower since 1878 and who left Grundy Co MO in 1898 to reside in Nebraska cared for his blind father until [he died] July 1905. Burial for both just west of old Bales homestead.
