    Mary Marvin, b. in England in 1629, the second dau. of Matthew Marvin,one of the first settlers of Hartford; who came there from England, in 1635, and afterwards settled and died at Norwalk (see Hall's Hist. Rec. of Norwalk 181 )
    After listing her hus. & their four children & b. mo. & yr. It states, after the death of her first hus. Mrs. Mary (Marvin) Bushnell, m. in 1659, at Saybrook, Deacon Thomas Adgate, a widower with two daughters, Elizabeth, who m. her step-brother Richard Bushnell; and Hannah, b. at Saybrook, 6 Oct 1653; who m. in Nov 1675, Samuel Lathrop the second of Norwich. Of this mg. with Deacon Adgate ( who removed with her, and all their children by their first mgs. to Norwich, in 1660), she had one son & three dau's.. Source; "Hyde Genealogy",p. 7.

    He had two dau. by his first wife, they were Elizabeth & Hannah, "Hyde Genealogy", p.7.
    He was ordained a Deacon, to his office in the First Church, Saybrook, in 1646, and resigned in 1660, when he removed to Norwich..... He was one of the earliest: proprietors of Saybrook & Lyme; the Saybrook records mention him as present at a town mtg. 7 Jan 1665/6, with Reinold Marvin, William Waller, and William Bushnell; he was a freeman in Norwich in 1669; Miss Caulkins describes his home-lot. He was a townsman there in 1674, '76, ]79, '80, '82, '84 and '86. By his first marriage Adgate had two daughters, Elizabeth & Hannah, the younger of whom married her step-brother, Richard Bushnell, Jr.

    From; "Francis Bushnell of Guilford, Conn. and His Descendants", p.208 we read" Francis Bushnell,"the elder",And Francis Bushnell, "Junior", most undoubted,ly father & son, were among the first settlers of Guilford. One of them signed the Plantation Covenant. Probably this was the elder. He died in 1646, and his will proved on Oct 13. Rev John Hoadley , who signed the same contract, came over in the same ship.
    On the voyage, his grandson, the famous Bishop John Hoadley,says he John) "accidently met with" Sarah Bushnell, a dau. of Francis, whom he afterwards married. Francis Bushnell Jr., probably came over in Apr 1635, in the "Planter", with his wife & infant dau. John Bushnell,the glazier, another son,came over in another vessel, the "Hopewell", in the same year. Both brothers were at Salem in 1657......
